North Gyeongsang Province Travel Information
North Gyeongsang Province includes many of Korea's most important cultural areas, including
Gyeongju (Kyongju), Korea's capital
during the Shilla Dynasty) and Andong,
the cradle of Korea's yangban (nobleman) culture. The province also surrounds the
special city of Daegu and
includes Ulleung Island off the east coast.
The area has many good hiking trails and magnificent temples in the mountains, sandy ocean
beaches and river resorts, and numerous cultural and historical remains. While Kyongju and
Andong are the region's most famous cultural areas, you can find many restored or rebuilt
temples, schools, and other buildings throughout the province.
