North Jeolla (Cholla) Province Travel Information

North Jeolla (Cholla) Province Despite having a major role in Korea's earlier history (Cheonju served as the first capital of the Chosun Dynasty), the region had only a minor role in South Korea's modern development. While Seoul and the Gyeongsang Provinces received the bulk of the country's assistance for industrializing, the region received little support and still maintain much of their agricultural heritage. For this reason, much of the area remains underdeveloped, allowing people to experience the beauty of traditional Korea. The region also has some of the best food, so visitors can sample many different side dishes during even "simple" meals.
