Within Jinju, the remains of the ancient Jinju Fortress make an interesting sightseeing
trip. Built during the Koryo Dynasty, it was the scene of a major battle during the
Japanese invasion of 1592-93, with an estimated 70,000 Koreans losing their lives.
About 5 km west of the city, the resort area of Chinyangho is built around the
lake created by the Namgang Dam.
Since it has a good transportation infrastructure, it also serves as a good base camp for
exploring the southeastern part of Jiri-san National Park. |
