![]() ![]() This stone pagoda (designated Property Material #262) is said to have been brought by Prinecess Heo Hwang-ok from India's Ayuta stat in 48 A.D. when she sailed to Korean to become the queen of Kim Suro. The stones with exotic engravings and red patterns are believed to have also originated from India. The pagoda is also called Chimpungtap (Wind Calming Pagoda) because it is reputed to have a mysterious power to calm the stormy sea. It first stood in Hogye-sa Temple in Gimhae, but Chong Hyon-sok, magistrate of Kimhae, moved it to this compound after the temple was closed in 1873. It was brought to this location in May 1993 for better preservation in a pavillion built to shelter it. ![]() ![]()
