Located near Chonghak-dong,
Samseong-gung is a special place for traditional worshipping of the three
originators of Korea: Whanin, Whanung, and Tangun. During school vacation, many college students come here to study
martial arts, energy (Gi in Korean), and other traditional arts. The entire area is considered
the Samhan period's (period after Gochosun) divine area called 'Sodo.'

In order to enter, visitors must strike the gong located outside the entrance and wait for a guide to appear.
The guide will give a short lecture (in Korean) about Samseong-gung and explain
the various rules for visiting, including instructions on how to bow to the three originators (although
visitors may skip that part and just go around to look). Inside, visitors must change into traditional clothes.
The clothes are provided for free, although the guide will point to a box where they accept donations for
their use.

To ward off evil spirits, many changseung
(similar to totem poles) and sotdae
(rock files) have been built in interesting ways. Visitors can walk around the guided roads and see the various
figures and settings. Since this place is considered a divine place, taking pictures is prohibited in certain
areas. Certain areas are also blocked off from the public. At the end of the paths, there is a small gift shop
and residents may ask you to fill out a questionaire. As it is in Korean, foreign visitors can skip that part.
