Located behind Deoksu Palace, Chongdong Theater
opened in 1995 as a reproduction of Wongaksa, Korea's first modern theater (built in
1908). The theater regularly stages modern and traditional performing arts shows.
1999 Traditional Performing Arts Series
Initiated in 1997 to give foreign visitors an opportunity to appreciate Korean traditional
arts, its popularity has grown tremendously. Twice a week it presents special performances
of music, dance, and shamanist ritual.
