Gumi is an industrial city about 1 hour north of Daegu.
It serves as a hub of local development and transportation, along Korea's main transportation
arteries between Seoul and Busan: the Gyeongbu Railroad line and Gyeongbu Expressway. The Nakdong
River flows through Gumi, providing an ample supply of water for residents, agriculture, and industry.
The Gumi National Industrial Complex is leading the country in high-tech production. The city and
surrounding area have a number of cultural and recreational spots, including
Geumo-san Provincial Park and
Dori-sa.
