Incheon International Airport (IIA) The new Incheon International Airport (IIA) (opened 29 March 2001) is set to act as the major gateway to Korea and all of Northeastern Asia. With a combination of Korea's traditional culture and state-of-the-art technology, the new airport reflects the image of Koreans reaching out to the world and welcoming their neighbors to Korea. The Transportation Center is the central transportation facility of the airport, a departure and an arrival point for international exchanges. It covers 76,000 pyeong (1 pyeong= 3.3 sq. meters), and includes Passenger Terminal 1, short term parking for passenger cars, and a railway platform (to be completed in 2005).

Dscn0028 The 200,000 square meter Cargo Terminal Buildings can easily handle 1.7 million tons of air cargo per year. This facility will expand to the 800,000 square meters by 2020, with a handling capacity of annually 7 million tons. An International Business Center comprising 16.5 hectares will be built to the south of the passenger terminals. The IBC will become an arena for international business activities, operating around the clock. Its prime location will attract hotels, exhibition centers, recreation facilities, office buildings, shopping centers, and international conference centers.
