The cliffs along the Daepo Seashore represent a very unusual geological occurrence.
The area is made of vertical black rocks, rising from the ground and sea like giant hexagonal
crystals. The area also has many other unusual rock formations. Erosion from the constant waves
has resulted in natural stairs in some areas, giving the original area's name of Chisatgae
Haean (meaning "Alter to the Gods"). In past times, residents would hold services
here to the island's 18,000+ gods.

From the parking lot, a dirt trail leads to the cliffs. Already, throngs of tourists scramble
all over the rocks, taking pictures. From all the construction going on, it looks like the
local government has big plans for developing the area. It is probably just a matter of time
before some drunk tourist slips and hurts himself, causing the government to decide to close
off the rocks to protect the people from themselves. Until that time, however, explore the
area to your heart's content!
