Bunjae Yaesulwon, the Potted Plant Art Institute, was established in 1992. It is rapidly earning
worldwide fame as Korea's only park specializing in indigenous potted plants. The park has a field
for seedlings, a protective area for potted plants, an orchid exhibition room, and a pond. Bunjae
is made more beautiful than nature, adding human technique and care to trees in their natural state.
There are many materials for Bunjae on islands. The trees on islands usually have smaller knots to be
alive, suffering from thunderstorms, snowstorms, and frost. Bunjae is not a scaled-down version of a
tree nor the torment of a tree. It becomes more mature as it gets pain. That is why people come to
think of themselves and life when they see Bunjae. Bunjae seems like condensing nature.
