Since September 2004, the Incheon International Airport has operated the Traditional Korean Cultural Experience Zone (located on the 3rd floor of the Passenger Terminal, near Gate 31 in the Duty Free Arcade) to promote traditional Korean culture to world travelers. In 2008, the number of visitors exceeded 100,000, showing much interest in this unusual airport attraction. The original location was in the West Wing, and a second Zone was added near Gate 24 in the East Wing.
Visitors can learn how to make traditional crafts such as fans, bags, and pencil cases from the resident faculty members of the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation. Guests can also enjoy traditional performances including masque dances and twelve-stringed Korean gayageum recitals on stage. Admission is free for all departing and transfer passengers at Incheon International Airport. [Features]
