Daegu (old spelling: Taegu) is near the center of South Korea and throughout Korea's history has served as
a major transportation junction. The city has an international airport and a stop on the
KTX high-speed train.
As such, it makes a good base for exploring many nearby tourist areas, including Gyeongju, Andong, and
Haein-sa Temple. The 2011 World Championships in Athletics are scheduled to be held in Daegu. Several
U.S. Military bases are located in Daegu, including Camp Walker, Camp Henry, and Camp George. For more
information about Daegu, please see the
Daegu City Travel Guide.
