Monument Contents

ROK/ US Joint Marine Corps took a great part in recapturing Seoul with the Han River crossing operation. Therefore to commemorate their brilliant devotion, the monument was built on Sept. 28, 1958. The Marine Corps Headquarters reconstructed the monument on Sep. 20, 1984.

Monument Contents

On April 23-24, 1951, the 27th Brigade, Britain Federal, made big achievements to collapse the Chinese People's Army's 1st Spring Attack in an area 7 km. north of Jukdun-ri. UN members and Gapyeong-gun established the monument to commemorate the lives of the fallen soldiers and their military merit.

Monument Contents

From April 22-25, 1951, Britain Forces fought to guard the freedom in Sulmari Valley. The 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, Trench Mortar Company soldiers had been sacrificed, so they set up the monument to commemorate these fallen soldiers.

Monument Contents

In the Korean War, Canada was the 5th country to dispatch their Army, Navy, and Air Force. Especially, PPCLI, the 2nd Brigade made great efforts in defending against the Chinese Forces in April. Korea setup the monument to the commemorate the lives of the fallen soldiers and their military merit.

Monument Contents

In Mar. 7, 1951, Canada's 2nd Division started to attack in Hongcheon. On March 11, they made great efforts to attack the Chinese Forces around Yangdukwon-ri, so that Korean forces could easily secure the middle battle line. Korea setup the monument in memory of the many fallen soldiers and their military merit.

191st Company, 70th Calvary Division, ROKA, sets up the monument to commemorate the soldiers in the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Brigade, Thailand, and the military merit they showed in the Korean War.

Contents of the monument

The sons of Napoleon having the belief that nothing is impossible! The everlasting glory dedicated on the names of 269 people here are to be remembered for their effort to fight for peace in the world and the freedom of Korea.

Monument Contents

Australia dispatched all of its Army, the Navy, and their Air Force to fight for peace to the world. The UN Council of the Nations that participated in the Korean War erects this monument to commemorate their participation in the Korean War and to cherish the memory of fallen patriots on Apr. 24, 1963. The current monument was re-established on Dec. 27, 1983.


Turkey

Monument Contents

Turkey dispatched one Infantry Brigade on Oct. 17, 1950. The brigade underwent a tough battle at first, but afterwards they fought admirably on the battle of Geumyangjang-ri, the battle of Jangsungcheon, and the battle of Nevada. The Ministry of Defense erected this monument to commemorate the fallen patriots¡' efforts and bravery.

The 1st Army, ROK Command, erected this monument on March 15, 1954, to pray for their repose of soul and pay tribute for their braved course in the ROK Army; 3rd Division, 5th Division, 8th Division, U.S Army; 2nd Division, 1st Marine Division, and the Netherlands Army, French Army who fought against the NPRK Army 5th Corps and Chinese 66th Division that invaded Wonju during the Korean War.

Monument Contents

Many soldiers devoted their lives at the Hoengseong battle area from Feb. 12-13, 1951, although the Netherlands Army fought well. This monument was built by the 1st Army, ROK Command, in June 1968 to commemorate LTC Owden and his soldiers who sacrificed their lives as members of the UN Allied Forces fighting for freedom and peace.

From Dec. 13, 1950, to May 20, 1951, the 3th, 5th, 8th Division, ROK Army, and the 1st Marine Division, US Army, and other units from Canada and New Zealand confronted the 5th Corps, NPRK Army, and the 63rd Army, Chinese Army, in the Hongcheon Battle. They executed their mission successfully and accomplished to secure the battle line in the central part. This monument is erected to commemorate and to cherish the heroic spirits who passed way in the battle.

Monument Contents

Colombian warriors born with the spirits of the Caribbean Sea! They fought in the interest of peace holding the UN flag high up in the sky. During the campaign, 213 soldiers sacrificed their valued lives. This monument was erected to commemorate these who fought for peace in Korea. This is a permanent reminder of the selfless sacrifice made by these soldiers.

Monument Contents

The Uyldong-ri Battle (April 22-23, 1951) was the biggest battle that the Philippines Army fought against the Chinese Army during the Korean War. They defended a position bravely against the offensive attacks of the 34th Division, Chinese Army, in spring at Uyldong-ri, located 5 km. from the north of Yuncheon. They successfully covered the unit located to their right side, allowing them to withdraw from their position to the rear. Afterwards, the Philippines Army evacuated to the rear as the U.N. Forces had commanded. This monument was erected to commemorate the successful battle at Uyldong-ri.

Monument Contents

Belgium and Luxemburg dispatched a crusade at January 31, 1951, and they fought bravely at June 15, 1955, as the Army returned in triumph. We hereby carve many meritorious services shown in the War and the names of many Commanders in this monument to spread the good will to the people around the world.

Monument Contents

The five countries (Denmark, India, Italy, Norway, Sweden) who dispatched a medical treatment support group during the Korean War showed the true sprit of a red cross. So, the Ministry of Defense erected this monument to let all countries know and commemorate their red cross spirit.
