Uyldong-ri Battle Monument
Monument Contents The Uyldong-ri Battle (April 22-23, 1951) was the biggest battle that the Philippines Army fought against the Chinese Army during the Korean War. They defended a position bravely against the offensive attacks of the 34th Division, Chinese Army, in spring at Uyldong-ri, located 5 km. from the north of Yuncheon. They successfully covered the unit located to their right side, allowing them to withdraw from their position to the rear. Afterwards, the Philippines Army evacuated to the rear as the U.N. Forces had commanded. This monument was erected to commemorate the successful battle at Uyldong-ri. |

Monument Contents The five countries (Denmark, India, Italy, Norway, Sweden) who dispatched a medical treatment support group during the Korean War showed the true sprit of a red cross. So, the Ministry of Defense erected this monument to let all countries know and commemorate their red cross spirit. |
