Jinju has many historical remains showing the importance of this area. Ancient Jinju Fortress
makes an interesting sightseeing trip. Built during the Goryeo Dynasty, it was the scene of a major
battle during the Japanese invasion of 1592-93, with an estimated 70,000 Koreans losing their lives.About 5 km west of the city, the resort area of Jinyangho is built around the lake created by the Namgang Dam.
