| Affiliate Program: Frequently Asked Questions |
| What is the cost to sign-up as an Affiliate? FREE! There is no cost to apply for or join the Life in Korea affiliate program. There are no recurring fees or dues. Can a web site outside Korea or the United States become an Affiliate Member? Yes! We welcome sites from anywhere in the world. Note that commissions are currently only paid in Korean won or U.S. dollars. What type of site should I have to join? We prefer that your site somehow relates to Korea, Asia, travel, or culture. However, we will consider all sites that apply. Do I have to have a minimum number of visitors before I can apply? No. However, the more traffic yopu generate to your site, the more benefit you can derive from the Life in Korea and other affiliate programs. We will periodically suggest ways to help you build traffic to your site. My site isn't up yet. Can I still signup? No. We are currently only signing up people with active web sites. However, under certain conditions, we may consider you if you have an active newsletter. Please contact us for more details. Do I have to maintain a minimum sales amount? No. We do not require any sales or traffic quotas. If your commissions in a certain quarter fall below the Payment Threshold, you will not receive a payment for that quarter. However, the amount will be added to the amount received during the next quarter. Can I also belong to other affiliate programs? Yes! We do not require any exclusive agreements from our Affiliates. We encourage you to belong to other programs that fit in well with your site. Can I earn commissions on reservations or purchases that I make personally? Yes! Unlike other sites that prohibit Affiliates from earning commissions on their own purchases, we encourage affiliates to take advantage of the services we offer. What types of products or services can I earn commissions on? We currently offer reservations for lodging and a variety of tours. We will shortly be offering online tickets for events and performances and selling pictures. In the future, we will also pay referral fees for advertising and other business partnerships referred by Affiliates. Note that we cannot pay commissions on purchases made at sites belonging to affiliate programs to which Life in Korea belongs (e.g., Amazon.com)- see below. If a customer I send from my site clicks on a link from the Life in Korea site to another site and makes a purchase, do I get a commission? No. Unfortunately, very few of the affiliate programs to which we belong have the capability of tracking sub-affiliates like that. Where possible, we will try to make sure that our Affiliates share in the commissions that we receive. |
